Extended Description Flight 93 began its journey in Newark, New Jersey, at 8:42 am, four minutes before Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York. As it passed through Pennsylvania at 9:03 am, Flight 175 struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center. At 9:28 am, Flight 93 passed into Ohio, which is when the time of the terrorist takeover is thought to have taken place. At 9:37 am, Flight 93 diverted from its planned route to San Francisco, and Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. At 9:57 am, Flight 93 passengers and crew began to struggle for control of the plane as it passed through the southwest corner of Pennsylvania. Six minutes later, at 10:03 am, Flight 93 crashed in Somerset, Pennsylvania, going 563 miles per hour, just 18 minutes from its intended target, the US Capitol.
