Alt Text Map of Fort Matanzas National Monument and the surrounding areas on the east coast of Florida. The coastlines are all shaded with vibrant green. The interiors are either light green, darker grass green, or a flat, sage green. The waterways are represented with blue. Extended Description Anastasia Island above, the coastline of Florida to the left, and Rattlesnake Island all angle diagonally from the top left to bottom right. The long, narrow Anastasia Island reaches down from the top edge of the map. Most of the island is pale green, and the lower tip is sage green. Several sites are labeled on the park area of the island. Moving clockwise, Beach Ramp at about one o’clock has parking and a note reading “beaches south of the ramp are closed to motorized vehicles.” At five o’clock, Least Tern Nesting Area has a loop made with a dotted red line. The Coastal Hammock Trail at nine o’clock is represented with a solid red line. More parking flanked by more red trails are available southeast of the Coastal Hammock Trail. The Visitor Center, a passenger ferry, and Marsh Trail are between ten and eleven o’clock. State Route A1A runs the length of what is shown of Anastasia Island, crosses the Matanzas Inlet, and continues past Summer Haven on the peninsula to the south. The passenger ferry crosses the Matanzas river to reach Fort Matanzas on the brighter green Rattlesnake Island. The Intercoastal Waterway separates Rattlesnake Island from the mainland to the left. Legend A scale in the lower left corner of the map measures 0.25 and 0.5 kilometers and 0.25 and 0.5 miles. The legend reads as follows: Shaded grass green for Park area open to the public, Flat sage green for Park area closed to public, Red line for Boardwalk, and Gray rectangle for Parking lot.
