Alt Text Map of Barataria Preserve in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve in Louisiana. The preserve is shown in green, surrounding areas in tan, roads in white, and the water in blue. Extended Description The coastline of Lake Pontchartrain curves along the top edge of the map and Lake Catatouatche and Lake Salvador are in the lower left quadrant. The Mississippi River snakes across the map about a third of the way down, and another sharp bend cuts across the bottom right corner of the map. Barataria Preserve hugs the lakes in the southeast quadrant. The Visitor Center there is off State Route 45, which is also labeled Barataria Boulevard. The road passes through the town of Crown Point before traveling through the southeast corner of the preserve. Outside the preserve, State Route 45 continues north until it meets US Business Route 90. Bayou Segnette State Park has a campground and is labeled in brown text north of the preserve. US Route 90 enters the map along the left edge between the river and the state park. It branches so US Route 90 curves north to cross the Mississippi River and Business Route 90 continues east along the next river bend before also curving north and crossing the river. Interstates 10, 61, and 510 and State Routes 3152, 46, 47, and 48 crisscross the zone between the river and Lake Pontchartrain. Five roads are also named in and around New Orleans in the top center of the map. Causeway Boulevard is west of town, Canal Street and Elysian Fields Avenue cut through town, and St Claude Avenue reaches east to Paris Road. The French Quarter Visitor Center is between Canal Street and Elysian Fields Avenue, and the Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery lie east closer to Paris Road. Legend A scale in the lower right corner of the map measures distances of 5 kilometers and 5 miles.
