Alt Text Map of De Soto National Memorial, which covers most of a peninsula surrounded by the Manatee River in Florida. The water is blue around the park, which is shown in green. Trails, picnic areas, and several sites are labeled. Extended Description The peninsula flares widely so it fills the lower left quadrant of the map and narrows to the De Soto Point at its tip, jutting northeast into the river. Most of the peninsula is edged in yellow, representing the beach. A road runs north from near the bottom left corner of the map almost to the northern edge of the peninsula, where a tall, narrow loop is labeled Parking. Dashed green lines representing the Memorial Trail curve from the parking loop to the edges of the peninsula, oftentimes near the beach. Where the trail meets the road in the south, text reads, “To State Route 64/Manatee Ave 2 miles (3 kilometers).” The De Soto Monument, Visitor Center, and Replica Spanish Camp (Camp Uzita) are near the northern tip of the parking loop. The Tabby House Ruin is on the eastern edge of the peninsula near the point, and the Holy Eucharist Monument and the Memorial Cross are labeled farther south along the eastern edge, near the bottom of the map. Symbols represent picnic areas along the top edge of the peninsula with one near the Visitor Center and one near De Soto Point. Legend A scale above the legend in the lower right corner shows distances of 0.1 kilometers and 0.1 miles. The legend reads as follows: * Dashed green line for Trail, * Yellow area for Beach, * Picnic table symbol for Picnic Area (wheelchair accessible).
