Alt Text Map of Fort Washington Park in Maryland. The park is shown in green, surrounding land in beige, and waterways in blue. The main access road, Fort Washington, is shown in red, and other park roads are black. Extended Description Fort Washington Park is shaped roughly like a backward-facing capital letter D, and it takes up the rounded tip of a land with Swan Creek to the north, the Potomac River to the west, and Piscataway Creek to the south. A note where Fort Washington Road enters the map on the right edge reads “To Indian Head Highway, State Route 210.” Fort Washington Road travels west into the park and passes the Entrance Station (fee area). It passes a telephone and then creates a loop along parking lots, where there are also restrooms. The largest parking lot is to the west on one narrow end of the loop. Just past this are an orange structure, a Visitor Center, and the red capital I-shaped Fort Washington. One long side of the fort looks out onto the Potomac River toward a Lighthouse and Fishing area along the coast. One black line branches off the upper leg of the loop to curve near the shoreline and lead to another parking lot on the coast. Two other black lines branch off Fort Washington Road before it flares into a loop. One leads to another parking lot and restrooms. The longest branch, which is also closest to the eastern park boundary, leads to four reserved picnic areas labeled A through D, more parking lots, restrooms, and two more orange structures. Solid and dashed lines create a loop around most of the perimeter of the fort. Legend A scale in the lower left corner of the map measures distances of 0.3 kilometers and 0.1 and 0.3 miles. A legend to the right of the map reads as follows: Gray areas for Parking lot, Gray solid line for Service road (motor vehicles prohibited), Gray dashed line for Foot trail, Orange structure for Endicott battery, Telephone symbol, Red letter A for Reserved picnic area, and Blue dot for Restrooms.
