Alt Text Map of Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument in New Mexico. Two green, rectangular areas are outlined in darker green. Heart Bar State Wildlife Preserve is shown in pale mint green and connects them along West Fork Gilar River. Surrounding areas are beige, waterways are blue, and roads are red. Extended Description The red road begins near the lower right corner of the map in the preserve area. One arm of the road reaches north to the Gila Visitor Center, which is at an elevation of 5,690 feet (1,734 meters). The visitor center is just northwest of a square park area outlined in darker green near the bottom right corner of the map. The preserve continues northwest on either side of the longer leg of the red road, which winds along West Fork Gila River to travel by Woody’s corral, the TJ corral, Trail to the Past, Lower Scorpion Campground, and Upper Scorpion Campground before ending at Cliff Dwellings Trailhead Museum. The museum is just outside the larger of the two darker rectangular areas, which takes up almost the left third of the map. A trail extends from the museum to pass Cliff Dwellings within that rectangle. The Adobe Canyon and Middle Fork Gila River are north of the preserve and the Cliff Dweller Canyon is near the lower left corner. Gila National Forest and Gila Wilderness surround the entire monument and preserve. Legend A scale at the bottom of the map measures distances of 0.5 kilometers and 0.5 miles.
