Extended Description

Black Canyon of Gunnison lies in the foreground, and the river curves and continues straight back. A blue arrow points to the river from the West Elk Mountains on the left, and another blue arrow points from the San Juan Mountains on the right.

As the river curves back, two blue arrows point toward the river, making a V shape, one from the left side between the Elk Mountains and the Sawatch Range, and the other coming from the right side of the Sawatch Range. Text in the middle of these arrow points reads “spring snowmelt.”
