Climbing Conditions - Boston Basin

About This Blog

>Low pressure and lots of moisture in the park has brought challenging conditions to Boston Basin this week. Snowline begins right about tree line, approximately 5300 feet and is continuous from here. Both low and upper bivy sites are snow covered, with the lower composting toilet dug out and in service. Boston Creek is still easily crossed on snow. The West Ridge snow couloir is robust and in good climbing condition. Many parties turned back from the West Ridge itself due to rime ice and wet conditions. Once things warm and dry up next week, the ridge should be in great shape. -Climbing Ranger<

6/24 Snowfield "Colonial Glacier is in great shape. Lake is melting out at the edges and there's a crossing around the east side. Snowfield Glacier is in great shape, the middle is crevasse free." -Visitor Report
