Prigot, 508-996-4095 x 6105 New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park and Roger Williams National Memorial have announced winter hours of operation for their visitor centers. New Bedford’s park visitor center will be open to the public from 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday through Sunday from January through March, 2018. The center will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as on New Year’s Day. Roger Williams National Memorial’s visitor center will be open 9 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday through Sunday as well, from January through March. New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s visitor center is located at 33 William Street in downtown New Bedford. Roger Williams National Memorial is located at 282 Main Street in downtown Providence, Rhode Island.
New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park was established by Congress in 1996 to help preserve and interpret America’s nineteenth century whaling industry. The park, which encompasses a 13-block National Historic Landmark District, is the only National Park Service area addressing the history of the whaling industry and its influence on the economic, social, and environmental history of the United States. The visitor center is wheelchair-accessible, and is free of charge. Roger Williams National Memorial, established by Congress in 1965, commemorates the life of the founder of Rhode Island who was a champion of the ideals of religious freedom and liberty of conscience. The memorial’s visitor center is located at 282 North Main Street in downtown Providence, and is wheelchair-accessible.
