The excitement of Christmas builds, as that holiday arrives, and then, as quickly as it came, is gone. What is there to do the day after Christmas? There is, in fact, a holiday called Boxing Day, celebrated in many places around the world. New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park will offer a day of free activities for people of all ages on Thursday, December 26, from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. These events are open to people of all ages. New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park is located at 33 William Street, downtown New Bedford.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
10:00 AM and 1:00 PM: - Ruth and Abby, the park’s 1850s ladies will be discussing the traditions of Boxing Day
10:15 AM and 1:15 PM: Make "Wish Boxes" to take home or hang in the park’s front window
11:00 AM-1:00 PM: Seahorse races: make your own and race it!
12:00 - 1:00 PM: Dress Up Relay
2:00- 3:00 PM: Charades
Board games all day.
Boxing Day is a day of recognition of others and of giving to others. In that spirit, if you wish you may bring non-perishable food items which will be donated to a local food pantry.
