Park Stewards

Park Ranger Alexa Nieves started as a Park Steward in 2010.
Former Park Steward Alexa Nieves is now a Park Ranger at New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.

In the summer of 2012 the Park Stewards at New Bedford Whaling NHP are launching on their own artist-led "Expedition". This creative summer program will combine art education and visits with working artists in New England national parks, including Cape Cod, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller, Olmsted, Saint Gaudens and Weir Farm. The Park Stewards will also produce a mini-documentary about the Expedition and create their own artistic expressions of the national park experience. The program will conclude with a public exhibit opening and world premiere of the documentary to showcase the art created by the Park Stewards. To keep up with the progress of the program, follow the Park Stewards' video blog.
