In celebration of Black History Month Natchez National Historical Park will be presenting a variety of programs throughout the month of February.Every Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm, at The William Johnson House, 210 State Street, rangers will present a program or have a walking tour of downtown. Programs will include William Johnson's Natchez, The Civil War in Natchez, and the River War. The Civil War programs include stories of runaway slaves who joined the Union Navy and in some cases returned to Natchez as United States sailors. The River War will also be presented February 26 for the Natchez Historical Society at 7:00 pm at the Historic Natchez Foundation, 108 S. Commerce Street.
An exhibit "From Slave to Sailor" is on display in the Eastern National Bookstore at the Natchez Visitor Reception Center throughout the month of February.
