Veterans Day on The National Mall

 

Veterans Day is a very special day at National Mall and Memorial Parks. We are honored to be the keepers of the nation's war and veterans memorials. There are multiple celebrations, commemorations and tours. The following events are taking place at National Mall and Memorial Parks this November 11 and are free and open to the public.

Road Closures and Access Points
Please note that on November 11, 2014 there will be significant road closures and visitor impacts due to the HBO Concert for Valor. Visitors to the Mall area (from the Capitol building to the Washington Monument) will need to pass through security access points. Please read our Concert for Valor Press Release for more information regarding these impacts.

9:00 a.m. - Veterans Day Commemoration at the World War II Memorial
The National Park Service and the Friends of the National World War II Memorial host a special Veterans Day event at the World War II Memorial at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11. Please click here for more information. The ceremony will feature remarks by newspaper correspondent and columnist Joseph Galloway and performance by the United States Navy Band Brass Quartet.

10:00 a.m. - Ranger Talk at the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial

1:00 p.m. - Veterans Day Observance at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and the National Park Service will host the annual Veterans Day ceremony to honor the sacrifice and commemorate the service of America's armed forces in Vietnam. Secretary of Defense Charles T. Hagel will present the keynote remarks and pay tribute to America's service members, past and present. The event will be held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Tuesday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. This year is the 30th anniversary of the dedication of the Three Servicemen Statue.
