Sundays Opening Hours Changed for Old Post Office Tower

Washington, D.C. – Effective immediately the Old Post Office Tower’s opening time for Sundays has changed from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. In the interest of ensuring the security and safety of the building and the visitors, the National Park Service (NPS) has changed their opening time to coincide with the opening hours of General Services Administration (GSA). The new visiting hours for Sundays are 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. All other operating hours will remain the same.

The NPS operates the Old Post Office Tower located at the intersection of 12th Street and Pennsylvania Ave., N.W. The 270-foot observation deck allows visitors an awe-inspiring view of the city. The tower’s viewing deck provides visitors with views in four directions.

Beginning Memorial Day and continuing through Labor Day, Old Post Office Tower is open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except Thursdays when the tower closes at 7:00 p.m. for bell ringing practice.

Self-Guided Tours begin approximately every five minutes from the elevator lobby on the stage level of the Old Post Office Pavilion. Visitors board the glass elevator to the exhibit area and then follow the signs to gain access to the 270-foot level. The Observation Deck is exposed to the elements. Park Rangers may close the Observation Deck during inclement weather. There is no admission charge. For additional information, please call 202-606-8691or visit www.nps.gov/opot
