In Memory of Bill Line

BIll Line, Associate Regional Director for Communications, of the National Capital Region, National Park Service, passed away on October 7 at the age of 56.

Bill served as the face and voice of the national parks in the Washington D.C. area since 2001. In addition to the usual park issues, Bill was the principle media contact for the annual blooming of the Japanese Cherry Trees along the Tidal Basin, the Fourth of July events on the Mall, the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, Presidential Inaugurations, Memorial Day and Veterans Day celebrations, dedications of the new monuments and memorials, and countless special events taking place on the National Mall.

Bill was a caring, compassionate person who loved the National Park Service and particularly the parks of greater Washington D.C. His charming presence and selfless dedication will be missed by all.

Prior to joining the NPS, Bill worked for the National Science Foundation, ABC and Fox News. Bill was an avid bicyclist, and was active in his church and with the YMCA. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers.

A native of Wisconsin, Bill received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his master's degree from American University.
