Solicitation of NAGPRA Review Committee Nominations Due September 9, 2019
The notice soliciting nominations for two members of the NAGPRA Review Committee was published in the Federal Register on June 11, 2019. The Secretary of the Interior will appoint two members from nominations submitted by national museum organizations or national scientific organizations. The deadline for receipt of nominations is September 9, 2019. Read more...

Upcoming Review Committee Meeting - Updated!

Alaska Meeting, August 21-22
The Review Committee will meet August 21-22, 2019, at the University of Alaska Museum of the North in Fairbanks, Alaska. The meeting notice has published for the August 21-22, 2019 meeting for the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act Review Committee was published on July 5, 2019. An agenda and meeting materials will be posted by July 22, 2019. See below for information on hotels.

Agenda topics include: a report from the National NAGPRA Program; the discussion of the Review Committee Report to Congress; subcommittee reports and discussion; and requests and/or presentations from constituents. The Review Committee is soliciting presentations from Indian tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, museums, and Federal agencies on the following two topics: (1) the progress made, and any barriers encountered, in implementing NAGPRA and (2) the outcomes of disputes reviewed by the Review Committee pursuant to 25 U.S.C. 3006 (c)(4).

Deadline Dates for submissions to the Review Committee:

  • July 10, 2019 - Presentation requests due
  • July 17, 2019 - Written comments due
