Notice to the Public: Temporary Closure of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens Parking Lot

August 11, 2025: The National Park Service is imposing a temporary closure of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens parking lot. This area was closed under emergency conditions on July 21, 2025, and will remain closed until September 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the affected park area is attached.

This temporary closure is necessary to protect visitors from exposure to raw sewage resulting from a DC Water sewage pipe burst that occurred on July 19, 2025, and while repairs are made to the pipe.

Persons using these park areas should remove themselves from the closed areas by 6:00 a.m. on August 12, 2025.

The National Park Service appreciates the public’s cooperation in this matter.
