Notice to the Public: Extending the Closure of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens Parking Lot

September 30, 2025: The National Park Service is extending a temporary closure of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens parking lot. This area was closed under emergency conditions on July 21, 2025, and will remain closed until December 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the affected park area is attached.
This temporary closure is necessary to protect visitors from exposure to raw sewage resulting from a DC Water sewage pipe burst that occurred on July 19, 2025, and while necessary repairs are made to the driveway adjacent to the burst pipe.
The National Park Service appreciates the public’s cooperation in this matter.
