August 12, 2025: At the request of the US Park Police (USPP), the National Park Service is imposing a temporary public use limitation prohibiting the public from entering the area around the USPP Anacostia Operations Facility, USPP Aviation Facility, and National Capital Parks – East Headquarters from 5:00 pm Tuesday, August 12, 2025 through 11:59 pm Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Employees of the National Park Service, US Park Police, and agencies supporting the Crime Emergency response as well as individuals on official business to support the mission of the above agencies may enter the closed area upon showing valid, government-issued identification and providing a contact who can vouch for their need to enter the area. Entrance through the sea wall at Aviation Drive SE, the gate at Aviation Drive SE, or through the metro access gate into Anacostia Park will be restricted. Those applying for or retrieving permits may do so at the Anacostia Park Skating Pavilion.
Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the closed park areas is attached.
Persons using these park areas should remove themselves and any personal property in violation of the above closures and public use limitations from the closed park areas by 5:00 pm Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
