Notice to the Public of a Temporary Closure of Kenilworth Park for Deer Management Operations

January 20, 2026: The National Park Service is temporarily closing Kenilworth Park to conduct deer management operations. Closures will occur between 4:00 pm and 6:00 am on select days from January 20, 2026, to January 23, 2026. The Anacostia River Trail will be closed during the times above.

Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the closed park areas is attached.

This temporary closure is necessary for the safety of visitors and staff during deer management activities, conducted in alignment with the National Capital Parks - East White-tailed Deer Management Plan. These operations aim to manage the deer population and protect park resources. During closures, NPS staff will inspect the area to ensure it is clear of visitors, and signage and on-site staff will restrict access to closed roads and trails.
