NPS May 8, 2025: The National Park Service is imposing a temporary closure of a section of Fort Washington Park. The area around the Fort Washington Lighthouse and nearby sidewalks will be closed beginning at 12:00 am May 9, 2025 until December 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the closed park areas is attached, and closed park areas will be delineated by fencing and signage. This temporary closure is necessary to provide for visitor safety during a comprehensive rehabilitation project to restore park resources and improve the visitor experience. Persons using these park areas should remove themselves and any property from the closed areas by 11:59 pm on May 8, 2025. The National Park Service appreciates the public’s cooperation in this matter. |
