Halberd Head

This halberd provides an example of American provincial folk art.

The halberd head would have been mounted on a long pole of ash, hickory or walnut in heights 76"- 80" Carried by non-commissioned officers, halberds served as a symbol of rank and as a control staff to straighten the lines of soldiers.
