Elk Teeth
Six pairs of elk “ivories” or tusks that come from the upper jaw of an elk near the back of the mouth. Each elk produces a single pair of these teeth. These are highly prized for the adornment of women’s dresses and sometimes are used on other objects for decoration. They signify that the dress owner has a good hunter, a good provider. A fully adorned dress can represent many seasons of successful hunting.
