Meat Bag

With the arrival of the horse came greater mobility and an increase in trade with Tribes west of the Bitterroot Mountains. Products made from buffalo came west in greater numbers such as this meat bag. Made of buffalo rawhide, it was used as a waterproof storage container for meat or other food stuffs. The bag was sewn together in several sections with sinew thread and has a large flap over the top secured with buckskin ties.
