"She Was Only A Farmer’s Daughter,” gave the internee audience a real hero to cheer, a villain to boo and another distraction from the realities of camp. This was an old-fashioned melodrama performed by students from the Manzanar High School Drama Club, one of three one act plays brought to the auditorium stage. Rose Honda played the role of Harvey. She was so nervous about being on stage that she completely blocked out any memory of the event. “All Aboard” and “The Grass Grows Red” rounded out the evening.
