Manzanar Community Auditorium

November 10, 1944
Presented by the Community Activities Section, C.A.C.A.

Music was one of many arts that provided internees a relief from the mundane camp life. They took piano, voice, brass and guitar lessons and enjoyed the Japanese and American music from bands that sprung up in camp. Programs like “Evening of Music" showcased this bicultural musical scene by featuring a Japanese mandolin orchestra. The community band and powerful soloists like the “Songbird of Manzanar” Mary Kageyama also entertained their fellow unternees.
