Kendō Men and Dō [Helmet and Breastplate]

Enthusiasts of kendō (Japanese fencing) practiced in their own dōjō near Block 10 at Manzanar. Most were among Manzanar’s Kibei population, American-born Japanese educated in Japan. They had strong cultural and political ties to that country often put them in conflict with more Americanized Nisei.
