Livingston's Law Register
1857

Mr. Lincoln began studying law while still living in New Salem, Illinois.  He passed the bar and moved to Springfield where he became the junior partner of John Todd Stuart.  His next partner was Stephen T. Logan.  Lincoln then opened up his own firm with his former law clerk, William Herndon.  This 1852 law register lists all of the lawyers in the country including Lincoln and Herndon.
