On November 22, 1831, Eliza Susan wrote to John Quincy Adams, saying, "…of all the sketches I have taken I value none more highly than the one of your father's residence of which I also send a copy. I never look at it without recalling many scenes I have there witnessed which will always remain associated with some of my deepest feelings, and most interesting recollections..."
