Rocky Coast Scene

Samuel Peter Rolt Triscott
Before 1925

This seascape hangs in the east bedroom of Thomas Edison's home, also known as his son Theodore's room. It bears a striking resemblance to another of Triscott's works, "On the Maine Coast," suggesting that "Rocky Coast Scene" also depicts Maine's coastline. Triscott was part of Monhegan Island's artist community, located just off the coast of Maine. He died a recluse on the island in 1925.
