Carl Bodmer (also known as Karl Bodmer)

A skilled painter, printmaker, draughtsman and hunter, Bodmer accompanied explorer Prince Maximillian zu Wied-Neuwied on his Missouri River expedition of 1832 - 184. The artist is best known for his detailed and refined recording of the American West. Bodmer rendered remarkably accurate portraits of the peoples, flora and fauna he encountered en route.
