Washington is seen here with his generals within the battle landscape. The leafy tree draws the eye to the mounted and uniformed men, and then to the tented camp in the left midground, and to the wagon train and the rolling hills in the distance on the right. From December 1, 1779, to June 23, 1780, during the second Morristown encampment, General Washington lived and made his headquarters in the Ford Mansion that is now part of Morristown National Historical Park.
