This painting of Melrose Abbey in Scotland was purchased by the Callon family. They owned Melrose from 1976 to 1990. The original owners of Melrose, John and Mary Louisa McMurran, named their estate Melrose after the Scottish abbey immortalized in Sir Walter Scott’s popular literary work, Lay of the Last Minstrel.
