A cowboy’s rope can be rawhide, “grass” (hemp) or horsehair. This rawhide lariat was made by an old vaquero or cowboy, to repay Conrad Warren for saving his half-frozen life one night. Warren put the old man up in the bunkhouse for the remainder of that winter.
