Saddlebags tie behind the cantle [back of the saddle seat]. An open range cowboy carried everything from the “makin’s” for hand-rolled cigarettes to the canned tomatoes in these bags, in case they couldn’t make it back to the chuckwagon for supper. This set of saddlebags belonged to Conrad Warren. They carried veterinary supplies during calving season.
