Pouf or circular sofa presented to the Eisenhowers in 1955 as a housewarming gift by Mamie Doud Eisenhower's mother, Elivera Doud, and her sister, Frances Moore.  The pouf is a reproduction of the one in the China Room at The White House.  Standing on six legs, the carved wood frame is painted gold, and the tufted seat and back rest are upholstered in velvet.
