

Panamint Daisy (Enceliopsis covillei (Nels.))
This mounted specimen was collected in Wildrose Canyon in 1939. The Enceliopsis covillei, also known as the Panamint daisy, is from the Asteraceae family, the same family as the sunflower. This specimen has a large stem with a large, full-faced yellow flower, with no seeds or roots. The Panamint daisy is featured on the emblem for the California Native Plant Society. This species is endemic to the Panamint mountain range in Death Valley and blooms from April to June.
