This invitation dated to May 16, 1887 informs the recipient that the American Red Cross will manage the Medical Department at the National Drill and Encampment to be held in Washington, D.C., May 23 – 30, 1887

Washington, D. C.
May 16, 1887.
During the time of the National Drill and Encampment, to take place in this city May 23d to 30th, the charge of its Medical and Hospital Department will be under the management of the National Red Cross, with Headquarters on the grounds.
You are cordially invited to call, and to find with us such rest as you may desire in your visits to the field.
The enclosed card will at all times be respected by the guard.
