The print from this plate appears in Clara Barton’s publication, The Red Cross in Peace and War. The image depicts the scene following the February 15, 1898 explosion of the U.S.S. Maine in the Havana, Cuba harbor.  Clara Barton, shown standing, supervises American Red Cross staff tending to wounded sailors. Captain Sigsbee, commander of the battleship, stands in the doorway.
