Helga's and Margaret's Room

Sandburg's daughter Helga and her two children John Carl and Paula lived in this area of the house for over 7 years (1945-1952). While here, Helga was instrumental to the creation of Connemara Farms as a grade “A” goat dairy. She also engaged in the pursuit of painting, writing poetry, and keeping a journal.  When Helga moved out in 1952, Margaret moved downstairs into this room.  Margaret served as a librarian and editor for her father.  She was an intellectual, birder, and lover of oriental art and Russian and French literature.
