Sandburg's love of music and his belief of the importance of music for the health and welfare of the people can be seen in this citation from his novel, Remembrance Rock: "You may become witness of the finest and brightest era known to mankind. The nations over the globe shall have music, music instead of murder. It is possible. That is my hope and prayer-for you and for the nations."
