Pocket Knife
c 1967
Bangkok, Thailand

Sandburg had a great collection of knives. Most given to him by friends, but others he had picked up at pawnshops or stores. He performed tricks with them to entertain his children and his grandchildren, but mainly he used them to skillfully remove an article from the newspaper that he wanted to save, to sharpen his thick lead pencils, and to cut his cigars in halves and thirds.
