Connemara was filled with Zenith radios, given to the Sandburgs by the President of Zenith. Mr. and Mrs. Sandburg were faithful listeners to news programs. Of particular interest was a show hosted by Edward R. Murrow and produced by both Murrow and his CBS co-worker Fred W. Friendly called Hear It Now. This show ran for one hour on Friday nights at 9:00 p.m. and chronicled history in the making. Keeping up with current and world affairs was important to the Sandburgs.
