President Roosevelt and CCC Advisory Council Members at Shenandoah National Park

Shortly after the Civilian Conservation Corps was authorized, President Roosevelt and some members of his CCC advisory council made an inspection trip to Camp Fechner, Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Surrounded by CCC enrollees are; left to right, seated: Army liaison Major General Paul B. Malone, Louis Howe [President Roosevelt's personal secretary], Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes, CCC director Robert Fechner, Roosevelt, Secretary of Agriculture Henry A.
