Bowl
San Clemente Polychrome
Ancestral Pueblo
Pueblo IV AD 1315 - 1425
This polychrome [more than two colors] bowl is painted with mineral and glaze paints. Glaze was used only as a decoration, not to coat whole items as is common in other ceramic traditions. Human hands as design elements are rarely seen on Ancestral Pueblo pottery. San Clemente, where this type of pottery is commonly found, was located along the Rio Grande south of Albuquerque.
