Bears a shield with the initial “C” on it. The “C” stands for cavalry. This button was passed down through the Lee Family.

Lee commanded the 2nd and 1st U. S. Cavalries before the Civil War. He was the commanding colonel of the 1st U.S. Cavalry when he resigned his commission from the US Army on April 20, 1861.
