Cliff Spencer, Superintendent at Mesa Verde National Park, announced that the National Park Service and Mesa Verde National Park will waive entrance fees the week of April 16 to April 24 in celebration of National Park Week.
"This fee-free week provides an opportunity for individuals and families to explore their national parks," Spencer said. "I encourage everyone to take advantage of the free admission to visit not only Mesa Verde, but other historic, cultural and natural areas as well."
There are 394 national park units located across the country in 49 states; 147 of them charge entry fees ranging from $3 to $25. There are an additional 247 parks that do not have entrance fees. Mesa Verde's $10 entry fee will be waived April 16-24.
Also in conjunction with National Park Week, Mesa Verde Museum Association will offer a copy of The 1926 Re-excavation of Step House, "Treasures of the Past" DVD, and five artifact postcards free with any purchase of $30.00 or more at its museum store, the Far View Visitor Center and the Cortez Welcome Center.
The fee free waiver does not include other fees collected in advance or by contractors—such as fees charged for camping, reservations, tours and use of concessions.
