With spring still six weeks away, Mesa Verde continues to enjoy long, slumbering winter evenings. Join Mesa Verde park rangers to witness a total lunar eclipse and enjoy views through the park’s 5” and 8” telescopes.

Dress warm, bring a flashlight, and meet at the Mesa Verde National Park entrance parking lot at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Hot beverages will be provided.

It’s rare to see a total lunar eclipse in the early evening hours. The next eclipse will be in December of 2010. Two other impressive views will be Saturn a few degrees to the southeast of the eclipsing moon in Leo, and Mars in Taurus.

Drive safe, watch for pedestrians as you enter the park and take care walking on icy surfaces.

In the event of snow or cloudy skies this program will be rescheduled. For additional information contact Tammi Corchero at 970-529-4627.
