The Mesa Verde Foundation recently appointed Paul Balaguer as their new Executive Director.  Paul Balaguer’s background is as Director of the “Ride The Rockies” bicycle tour.  He worked on the event from its inception in 1986 through its 22nd year in 2007, including 19 years as director of the ride.  Paul graduated from the University of Colorado in 1985, with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design.  Paul lives in Boulder with his wife, Elaine and their two children: Anna, 10 years old and Jack, 5 years old.

On a recent visit to Mesa Verde National Park, Paul Balaguer stated, "I could not be more pleased to be the Executive Director of the Mesa Verde Foundation.  Mesa Verde is very close to my heart and working with a team to enhance visitors' experience in the park will truly be a labor of love."

Mesa Verde Foundation Board Chair Gina Guy welcomed Balaguer's appointment as Executive Director, commending his vision and commitment to the park.  “Paul Balaguer's accomplishments in developing and building the legendary "Ride The Rockies" bicycle event are legendary.  We are confident he will bring the same energy and dedication to the support of Mesa Verde National Park, one of the world's treasures, and a World Heritage Site.  We are sure that we will be successful in raising the money to construct a world-class Visitor Information Center for Mesa Verde National Park," stated Gina Guy.  Guy succeeds former Senator and Public Utilities Commissioner Jim Dyer, Durango.

The Mesa Verde Foundation was established to provide fundraising support for projects at Mesa Verde National Park, including the raising of private funding for the construction of a new Visitor Information Center near the entrance to the park and the renovation of the existing Far View Visitor Center as a Tribal Cultural Center.
