Since the acquisition of Kahuku by Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park in 2003, interest in the history of the area has sparked curiosity about the colorful characters and past events of this famous Hawaiian ranch. From the early years of royal ownership to the first rancher - Captain Robert Brown, through Parker Ranch, Glover and Damon Estate, the ranch became a well-run cattle operation known for its hard working paniolo (Hawaiian cowboys) and their families. Join presenters, Marge and Dennis Elwell for an evening of Kahuku history and learn some surprising facts about this remarkable place. The Elwells are the authors of the book, "History of Kahuku Ranch" and co-authors of "Historic Na`alehu, Hawai`i's Deep South". Both books will be available for purchase and autographing.
