On July 19 just steps away from the 19th-century law office of Martin Van Buren in Hudson, New York, Martin Van Buren NHS hosted a public gathering to explore the way that access to the papers of the 8th President is undergoing revolutionary change at a time when the history of Van Buren’s role in the establishment of the two-party system could not be more relevant. National Heritage Areas in five states are implementing a number of innovative education, recreation, and interpretation programs this year thanks to almost $60,000 in special project funds made available by the NPS Northeast Region's NHA Program Office. Read more
